Transforming Education Through Technology

Education runs deep in my family. My parents, aunts, and grandmother were all public school teachers, and through them I witnessed the dedication and vocation that define true educators. Surrounded by books at home and accompanying my parents to different schools across my hometown, I saw their unwavering commitment to teaching young people in Bolivia, often in the face of scarce resources, fragile infrastructure, and the structural barriers that still challenge our education system today.

This early exposure shaped my belief in lifelong learning and taught me that great teaching blends heart, skill, and a commitment to student success. Later, during my master’s studies in the United Kingdom, I encountered advanced educational platforms and digital learning tools that were widely available there. This experience inspired me to bring similar innovations back to Latin America and adapt them to our local realities.

As a university lecturer for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, I put these ideas into practice and faced the challenge of transforming my classes into fully virtual experiences during the pandemic.

Today I consider myself part of Bolivia’s digital pioneering generation. From the early days of online communities, I collaborated on innovative technology projects that helped shape the country’s digital agenda. Over the past decade, I have also led the development of digital products such as MOOC platforms, online courses, learning management systems, and educational apps. In every initiative, whether as a volunteer or professional, my focus has remained on education and the positive impact it can create in communities.
